Thanks for the comments and question.
With Windows Vista (even more so with 64-bit) software for Brother printers do not get installed automatically. You’ll need to go to the brother website, click on download software, and then select the printer you have. You’ll see options for 64-bit, or 32-bit Windows Vista. Download and install them, you’ll be good to go. If you give me the model of your printer, I can show you which one to download.

Hi Mike, thanks so much for explaining this. Believe it or not I’ve been using Macs for about 5 years now and I never even noticed the glowing dots before now! I always thought I was closing programs by closing the open window and was always puzzled when I right clicked icons in the dock and saw ‘Quit’, since I thought I’d already quit them. Oh well, we live and learn, I suppose, so I’m off now to close down the many programs that appear to be running in this MBP of mine, all unknown to me though I must have opened them sometime.
Thanks again!

You forgot to put “Disc At Once” in bold at the top of The third paragraph. I thought you were still talkibg about track at once for a minute! Good article though. I learned something.
